The Bald Eagle is a magnificent large eagle which is the national symbol of the USA. This is quite apt as it is also the only species of eagle which is unique to North America. They are natural fish eaters and are well served for this diet having large feet with which to pluck unsuspecting salmon and other large fish from the surfaces of lakes and rivers. The Bald Eagle is so dependent upon fish that it will migrate to areas of plentiful fishing.

Like some other birds of prey the Bald Eagle will mate for life, returning to the same eyrie year after year. Their aerial mating display is particularly spectacular with pairs locking talons and tumbling through the air as one, only breaking apart at the last minute.
