The Brahminy Kite is a bird which definitely makes flying look easy. Even when the wind means that most of our other birds have to work that extra bit harder in our displays the Brahminy Kite is still the master of its environment using the extra currents and eddies to its advantage to produce an outstanding display of its amazing natural ability.

In the wild like many other species of kite the Brahminy Kite is quite adaptable and like the Black Kite it will be found in large numbers near to human populations. As the Brahminy Kite is a bird which favours wetland environments this means rice paddies and Asian seaports where it will be on the look out for easy picking such as dead fish and crabs. However it is perfectly capable of hunting for itself and will take fish straight from the water if necessary, much like a fish eagle would. It will also hunt large winged insects taking them in flight and passing the food from foot to mouth without setting down.
