Harris Hawks are highly sociable birds of prey which live and hunt together cooperatively in small groups. Some of the group will try to flush prey whilst the others will be waiting to give chase. This behaviour greatly increases the chance of catching food which consists of mammals up to the size of rabbits, small birds and lizards.
Harris Hawks are highly adaptable and intelligent; characteristics which make them one of the most popular birds of prey for hunting, their instinct for hunting in groups means that two or more Harris Hawks may be taken out together.
